Expanding Visibility for Rancho Los Cerritos’ "Roots in California: Concepts of Home" Exhibition
As a communications consultant for Just Environment Long Beach from 2019 to 2022, I played a key role in shaping their digital presence and equipping their member organizations with essential media skills. My work focused on building and managing their social media platforms, blog, and digital newsletter, ensuring that their messaging was consistent, bilingual, and accessible to the communities they served. By creating educational and digestible content, I helped amplify their mission and demonstrate the impact of their work in environmental justice across Long Beach’s most affected neighborhoods.
Beyond content creation, I also led a capacity-building initiative to empower Just Environment Long Beach’s member organizations with the tools they needed to navigate media outreach effectively. My final consulting project involved designing curriculum and facilitating workshops on social media strategy and press writing, helping grassroots organizations strengthen their communication efforts. To bridge the gap between local media and community organizers, I organized and moderated a press workshop featuring a panel of local journalists, where participants gained direct insight into how reporters covered the local community and how the pandemic shaped news narratives.
Through this strategic communications approach, I helped Just Environment Long Beach increase its visibility, engage its audience more effectively, and equip its partners with lasting media skills—laying the foundation for long-term storytelling and advocacy success.
